What is my liability, should I bother?

    Haslett, MI
Walking dog around block. Neighbors dog attacks through fence and bites my dog on the face causing a minor laceration. The fence containing the aggressive dog is a short wooden picket-style with large gaps, and the fence edge is physically touching the sidewalk. I notified animal control I wanted to file a complaint but not an injury report.

As with anything legal, I am concerned about my own liability here. I do not believe the other dog has any injuries, and my dog has no history of being aggressive. Should I drop the complaint altogether to avoid any backlash from the dog owner? If they were sore about a formal complaint and decided to waste resources fighting it, what would be my responsibility here?

    Thank you in advance,

    Nicholas

I don't see what your dog did wrong so I don't see any issues here.
I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice.

You are making too much out of nothing. Dogs are property. This is not like an assault on you, a human being. Take the other party to small claims court to recoup the Vet fee for stitching up you dog. That's it.

Its a dog issue but this is week case against him, because the dog is attacked by the other dog not by the owner.
