Pradaxa Lawsuit - THIRTEEN Counts against Manufacturer of Pradaxa

Last month, John Swing filed lawsuit regarding Pradaxa complications and side effects against the drug’s manufacturer. In the legal complaint, filed in Southern District of the Courts in the State of New York, the attorney for Swing claimed having suffered from bleeding due to Pradaxa which was not disclosed properly. The drug’s maker Boehringer Ingelheim is a pharmaceutical giant and is not new to drug lawsuits.

Pradaxa Attorney Focuses on the Danger of a “1 size for all” Prescription Dosage Guideline

Pradaxa got FDA approval in late 2010 to be used for stroke prevention treatment. The kinds of patients who are on Pradaxa include those who are suffering from a-fib or more specifically who have the condition known as non-valvular a-fib. Pradaxa has been described by its proponents and Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals themselves as being in the front of these newer generation of blood thinners. These thinners prevent dangerous clots in the patient’s body which can bring devastating and dangerous strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary embolism, as well as other dangerous blood clots. Pradaxa has been touted by Boehringer Ingelheim to have less dangerous side effects from drug interactions which could be dangerous to patients. As opposed to Warfarin, it’s claimed that the amount and severity of complications from Pradaxa are much less than Warfarin, but the Pradaxa lawsuit will go into that in more detail.

Yet, the plaintiff’s lawsuit against Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma in the complaint it is noted that although Warfarin is prescribed on an individual basis and is carefully tweaked and tuned based on each individual patient’s levels of blood with ongoing care, Pradaxa has been sloppily approved on the basis of a “one Pradaxa dose fits all patients method.” This dosage has been set at two dosages of 150 mg on a daily basis. The victim alleges “one dose fits all” is a dangerous implication because patients can get a dangerously higher than necessary level of the drug because there is not an allowance made for lower dosages in most cases.

Boehringer Ingelheim has Confirm that 260 deaths have occurred from Pradaxa bleeding complications

Pradaxa clearly has been faring no better than warfarin. These 260 deaths from Pradaxa bleeding may be a bit easier for a physician or patient to administer, but that is where the advantages end for Pradaxa. The myth that this easier dosages anticoagulant have appealed to doctors because it requires less thinking. But who is in favor of a doctor not needing to carefully review your situation? These physicians have been the carefully orchestrated subject of Boehringer Pharmaceutical’s extreme Pradaxa promotion and marketing and this has put patients at extreme risks for bleeding from Pradaxa.

Pradaxa bleeding complications can include dangerous and very serious, and even potentially lethal bleeding, with it working to do just that! Pradaxa is a drug in the class of anticoagulants. Even as early as November of last year, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals affirmed over 260 lethal Pradaxa adverse bleeding events which occurred between the periods in March 2008 through October of the year 2011.

FDA officials initiated a comprehensive and specialized investigation regarding serious bleeding adverse events caused by Pradaxa to the blood thinner patients in December of last year with the results yet forthcoming.

John Swing Suffered Disfigurement Due to Pradaxa Bleeding Complications

Plaintiff John Swing took Pradaxa starting April of last year through February of this year, and allegedly, as found in his Pradaxa legal lawsuit, he suffered intraventricular hemorrhage in February of this year. His hemorrhage included subarachnoid bleeding on many levels, and included other dangerously severe injuries which have been diagnosed as being permanent conditions due to the drug Pradaxa.

Swing claims physical pain along with mental anguish caused by the disfigurement, medical costs, as well as the legal doctrine which has been allowed in many injury cases which is known as a diminished life enjoyment. Although there are many different aspects of a Pradaxa lawsuit, there are many Pradaxa lawsuit information sources which can be relied on to get information. He has also cited his necessary lifelong medical care due to taking the drug. This includes monitoring his dangerous condition, as well as fear regarding the development he could have received from other Pradaxa complications.

Swing’s Pradaxa injury lawyer brought 13 counts against Boehringer Ingelheim which included the following:

1. Failure by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals to warn him adequately regarding the dangers
2. Drug product design defect
3. Negligence on the part of Boehringer Ingelheim
4. Breach of contract warranty by the Pradaxa drug maker
5. Fraud in the suppression of important medical and legal evidence with regards to Pradaxa research on complications and deaths
6. Other types of fraud in medical drug warnings for Pradaxa

Swing’s Pradaxa attorney requests that he receive compensatory damages from taking Pradaxa along with punitive damages from his severe Pradaxa condition. He also seeks exemplary damages to pay for medical expenses which he has already incurred along with future and present medical costs. He also is seeking Pradaxa financial damages for mental anguish (Pain and suffering,) as well as for physical impairment which even includes disfigurement due to the Pradaxa injuries.
