Overpaid
My husband was overpaid over a course of many months. We were not aware of the over payment because of direct deposit and no proper documentation given of hours worked for each paycheck (his hours would vary.) However, when we noticed that he earned more than he should, because we were very tight one month (so we added up everything we had) we noticed his paycheck was larger than what we had estimated. We brought it to their attention the very next day. The immediate boss said it was HR's mistake and we wouldn't have to worry about it. HR pulled my husband to the side and said he owed $4500! We don't have that kind of money sitting around. I have cancer and don't work, so he is the sole provider and they wanted to take it from his pay checks, which would put us in such a bind, we wouldn't even be able to pay rent. My husband protested, and they did not come back to him until today. (Over two months since we brought it to their attention.) Today they give my husband a letter stating they will be taking out of his checks? Is this legal?!
