I got my pellet gun taken away by a stranger what can I do?

The other day, me and my friends were on the side of a country road shooting bb and pellet guns. These guns were only pump bb guns and did not require a foid card to buy. After a few minutes, a man came up in a truck and started yelling at us. He claimed that he was the owner of the property that we were on and threatened to call the cops on us. The man searched our car trunk and threatened to call the cops on us if we would not comply. He then took our guns and drove off. Can I file a police report for stolen possessions? What can I do in this situation?

If you were allowed to have those guns in your possession, then yes you should call the police. Although if he lied to you about owning the property, you will have a hard time figuring out who the person was who took the guns unless you know his name/plate numbers.
I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice.

I'm sure you were not randomly shooting pellets and BB's into the air. This leaves the lagging question of what property of his were you shooting pellets into?

My opinion? You folks were scammed. File a police report if you like but don't think you will recover your "toys".
