    Son charged with Contributing to Delinquency of Minor

    My 18 yo son went to a party at the apartment of a former classmate who was also 18. The police busted the party for noise complaints. There were a couple of minors at the party, under 18. My son is being charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor Ohio RC 2919.24a1
    2919.24 Contributing to unruliness or delinquency of a child.
    (A) No person, including a parent, guardian, or other custodian of a child, shall do any of the following:
    (1) Aid, abet, induce, cause, encourage, or contribute to a child or a ward of the juvenile court becoming an unruly child, as defined in section 2151.022 of the Revised Code, or a delinquent child, as defined in section 2152.02 of the Revised Code;
    This charge is a misdemeanor of the first degree.

    My son was not drinking alcohol or smoking marijuana at the party. He was aware that some of the partiers and the host were drinking beer. He was not aware that there was anybody under 18 at this party. He did not provide any beer/weed to the teens. He was not aware if any beer/weed was provided to the teens.
    What are his chances? Does the prosecutor have to prove his involvement or is he assumed to be guilty by association?

    What city are you located in? There are different codes with regards to this in Ohio state criminal code. Here is a list of thousands of Ohio Criminal Lawyer legal firms who specialize in these kind of cases. I also understand that the purpose of this site is also to help people obtain free self help legal advice via american pro se association.

    But anyway, what city are you speaking about. Frankly, it's certainly going to rest with the prosecution to prove their case regarding the law you stated. Assuming that your son is not proven to be guilty according to the stipulations you set forth in ohio state criminal code, you should really be in a good position to be this rap. They say that you can beat the rap, but you cannot beat the walk. Your son may not be guilty of any kind of crime at all, but the cops can arrest anyone for doing anything and it then rests on them to charge properly. You may be able to get a good criminal lawyer who is able to get the police department to drop the charges right away as soon as they realize they're going up against an extremely difficult set of circumstances.

    From what you're describing here about your son's criminal charges, your son has very good chances of being able to beat these charges. It really sounds almost like they're pushing very hard here. Just make sure that you really know all the facts and that your son is straight with you regarding the facts as best he knows them.

    With that in mind, you are probably best off to get a good criminal lawyer. This should be a very simple case for them to handle, and although it might cost you a few dollars, it will be worth it, and shouldn't be a long, drawn out case like many criminal cases can be. Once again, it will be very important that your son tells the lawyer everything. EVERYTHING. Because if the prosecution has information that you nor the attorney has, and your son did not share everything with you, the case could be lost.

    This seems very simple, if the police can't prove their claims, and your son doesn't lose the case based on some sort of procedural or other issue (which is why it's so important to have a good lawyer,) then it should be very doable. You could consider just Googling criminal lawyer North Randall, Ohio. Or you could also see here for Criminal Lawyers in Cleveland Area. Heck there are probably some ads up right now on the site for criminal lawyers so if you just look around on this page you might see one and these ads are generally for people who are anxious and able to help you with your situation very quickly.

    Hope that helps!
