    ex boyfriend, joint mortgage, nightmare

    hi
I currently have a joint mortgage with my ex partner. He moved out of the property the start of december 2011 and i am paying all the mortgage and bills myself
Unfortunatly we are fixed in the mortgage for another 18 months, (he couldnt be removed from the mortgage all together because of an overdraft that defaulted on the mortgage)
My ex partner asked me to get a solicitor letter drawn up to say he doesnt want any dealings with the house, the solicitors i went to see was quite helpful and said they could change the deeds on the house etc.. but this wouldnt actually transfer my exs half of the mortgage.
My ex has actually said he is going to make himself bankrupt. I think this may just be a threat, he said i will lose half of my house, I have read that i have the rights to buy his interest on the house as i am still occupying the house. I am not sure how this works because one of the reasons the mortgage provider wouldnt let me keep the mortgage on my own is due to the fact we went into arrears, so we owe more on the mortgage than we borrowed..
Another thing my ex has stated is that he will try and sell my house from under my feet as hes the main earner (even though hes not paying any mortgage and bills now)
I have been told i could get his half of the mortgage transfered to someone else like my mom, or my new partner, (as long as he agrees to this) is there any way of getting him to agree to this as i dont see how hes entitled to anything if hes not paying any mortgage (which has been changed to interest only) Also he hasnt put any deposit on the house, i put 6k, in which we got a decleration of trust written up for this.
One other thing he has said is that he will wait for me to pay 18 months worth of mortgage (interest only) and once our fixed term is up he will take me to court to try and get half the house. Not sure what he will get if we owe more than we borrowed and im only paying interest

I am assuming since you are using the word solicitor, you are outside the United States. Unfortunately the majority of our members are in the US so I am not sure you will be able to have your question answered here.
