    Can Aetna health ins legally cover same sex partners but exclude heterosexual partners? Isn't this discrimination? My S/o was covered under my work plan for nearly 5 yrs/ his employer UPS is indicating they wont do the same with out a state acknowledged form that we are common law after being in a relationship for over 9 yrs.
    This seems to be discrimination!!

    Do you know if they are requiring heterosexuals couples to also provide documentation?

    Many teamster plans are requiring government documentation of familial status, prior to giving health benefits. As with other insurance plans, as prices increase, they increasingly require proof of status prior to tendering benefits. It is not illegal to request proof of eligibility.
