    domestic violence

'm currently and have been in a domestic violence relationship for 4 years, I'm leaving him and the state of North Carolina and moving home with my family in Michigan, I will be taking my 3 year old daughter with me. he and I were never married and there is a child support order in place that was put on hold when we moved back in with him. I can't take the abuse anymore and the fact that he verbally assults me in front of my child. my question is: can I be charged with parental kidnapping or can I be protected with the UCCJEA law once I'm able to find an attorney in Michigan??? all of the abuse I have suffered from him is documented and I will be leaving the state with a letter from my counslor stating that I'm fleeing in fear for mine and my child life, I'm scared that my child and I could be seperated, her father has very little to do with her but he uses her as a tool to try and make me stay. I am leaving this time any advice you would be able to provide would be greatly appreciated

I highly recommend consulting with a family law attorney in North Carolina who can request an emergency child custody hearing on your behalf to make sure you are not violating any child support order.
