My divorce attorney but he has withheld vital information from me; Can someone help m

I am involved in what has become an ugly divorce. My husband told me if I did not "go along" with the divorce he would make me regret it. I have an attorney-but he has withheld vital information from me; he did not speak up for me at our hearing, among other things. What he withheld was of vital importance, as it was the original petition for divorce and what my husband stated as our "problems." Realize - I was totally blindsided by this divorce. I was shock when I got a copy of the petition that stated I was physically and emotionally abusive to my husband, and that I had left huge bruises on him. We have been married 30 years, and in all that time I have struck my husband 1 time. When he told me he had been having an affair for two years, I slapped him. I need an attorney who will represent me. I am desperate for help. I must have a lawyer who will stand up against his attorney who has lied against me badly. Can someone PLEASE help me?

    angelesy1,
I am surprised that you did not have a copy of your husband's petition since you should have been served with it by a constable or process server. Even if you were not served, I can't believe your attorney would "withhold" it from you. You have the right to a copy of everything in your file. It is important that you work closely with your attorney. Go over the petition with him, make sure he knows when something being said is untrue. If you think your Attorney is not agressive enough, you can get a different one.
