    my husband was in accident and put in the ccu under strong medications. his family went and changed his address and tried to file a divorce for him. they are trying to file for power of attorney and he is married.

    I assume that your husband is incapacitated to the point that he is not competent to carry out his regular business affairs. Usually in this circumstance, it is necessary to have a guardian appointed by the appropriate court of record. A power of attorney would be in appropriate because if he is incompetent at the time he executes the document, it is invalid. Nevertheless, a lot of damage can be done by a bad power of attorney. You need to protect yourself by getting your assets out of any joint accounts. You should figure out what they are up to, and go talk to a probate or family law attorney.
