If a person verbally agrees to have his biography recorded on video tape, no fee involved, do I need to get written permission to use that video for advertizement purposes? Does it by default become my property and can I copyright it?

windjammer, the laws regarding copyright vary from place to place. What is your state? Have you contacted an intellectual property lawyer about this? Generally it is the best practice for you to obtain permission in writing. And if you word it correctly, you can state in the permission form that you will retain all rights to the film and footage.
