    Protecting your writing online

    My niece writes poetry and posts it on a blog. I warned her that somebody could steal her work easily if she didn't do something about it. What steps should she take to protect her work online?

    She can register a federal copyright on her work to protect it (as well as give her a cause of action for a federal lawsuit). She can also send C&D letters and dmca take down notices to the parties stealing her content or their hosting company.
