    What is the first step when you have an idea?

    Are there any steps you should take when you have an idea, but don't have the funding to get it started right away? I would hate for someone to steal my ideas before I have the opportunity to get the projects started.

    If you can somehow develop your idea, you may be able to protect it with a patent. Otherwise, you can write a business plan and present it to companies (after having them sign a non-disclosure agreement) and see if they are willing to invest into your idea.
