Criminal behavior that was done by an act that was impulsive, thoughtless, or unplanned. This type of behavior is usually held to be less culpable than criminal behavior done through planned or intended actions. Therefore, in some jurisdiction, proof of aberrant behavior can be used to reduce the sentence imposed. For example, in these jurisdictions if I was enraged and impulsively broke a personís car window, I would qualify for a lesser sentence than someone who planned and meant to break that personís car window.
