Is there such a thing as a warrant on a vehicle?

Is there such a thing as a warrant on a car in CA? My friend got arrested, because the police said there is a warrant on the car and he is on parole. He did not violate his parole, has no active warrants, no unpaid tickets, his license is good, etc. I do not understand how there could be a warrant on the vehicle. If there really is such a thing how can you get that removed and what would I have to do? The car is in my name, but my friends drives it and makes the payments.

Usually, the reference indicates the registered owner of the vehicle has a warrant. He may have been picked up for associating with you, in violation of his parole.

Yes it is possible, although some states may refer to it as something other than a warrant. You need to call the police and find out what the warrant is for.
I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice.

Since OP is the vehicle owner, I suspect they already know what the warrant is for.

Police use phraseology at times as terms of art/lingo for the law field. Auto's do not have warrants on them. If he is on parole, it may be part of his release terms to be searched at anytime, even absent suspicion.

Police can also run license plates for any reason, no reasonable suspicion or probable cause necessary, so they may have run it by happenstance and saw the regisitered owner was on parole.
