    Denied accidental death benefit

    My mom lived in Michigan and had a small $5,000.00 lfe insurance policy with an accidental death benefit rider. Insurance comp. has denied the claim. I live in PA., she lived in MI. and Ins. comp. is in TX. Can I sue in small claims court in PA.?

    If you have a copy of the policy you will likely find a clause which states that jurisdiction is proper in a given venue. Most likely in the State where the insurance company has their corporate offices. I think you would be well advised to read the policy carefully and contact an attorney in that jurisdiction. You should also contact the state board of insurance in that state. The insurance industry is heavily regulated, and the state has the clout to give the insurance company a lot of grief.
