    Unknown Insurance

My Mother passed away in 1998. I was recently contacted by Farmers Insurance & informed that there was a Life Insurance policy in effect, at the time that I was not aware of. They would not disclose the amount. I was sent some forms to sign & they are requesting a Notarized copy of the Death Certificate. She passed away in Houston, TX & I am in California. My question is: after 14yrs, should I be expecting "interest" on whatever the amount is & should I expect them to be forthcoming about it or should I be retaining or seeking a lawyer? I'm also not sure how to go about obtaining a copy of the Death Certificate at this late date. Thank You very much

You can get a death certificate from Harris County vital statistics. Check this website cclerk.hctx.net/applications/websearch/VS.aspx. They will try to settle the claim and will probably send you a check. It would make sense to request a copy of the policy and read the fine print to make sure they are fulfilling the terms of the policy.

If you are not aware of that insurance scheme at that time but now you can claim it with the help of a solicitor.

Its right you contact any solicitor that help you in getting the death certificate and other document that you want.Even that you may have to pay some more money because making that certificate late but hope you get the death certificate and contact solicitor in that state because the state law may differ.
